Re: [cobalt-security] SSH Questions

First, go with openssh.

Get the latest srpm (master dir is at:

  <ftp://ftp.openbsd.org/pub/OpenBSD/OpenSSH/portable/rpm/>

there are also several mirrors; see

  <http://www.openssh.com/portable.html>

for a list of them, with links) and rpm -i it.

You will need to edit the spec file a bit. I've thrown the one I used
up at:

  <http://jhcloos.com/pub/misc/openssh-raq.spec>
  <ftp://jhcloos.com/pub/misc/openssh-raq.spec>

My raq3 still has rpm-3.0.2-6.0, which does not support all of the
bells used in the openssh spec, hense the editing.

You can also just grab the i386.rpms from the same site as the srpms.

You may need to upgrade openssl as well. The srpm at:

  <http://www.modssl.org/contrib/openssl-0.9.5a-1.src.rpm>

compiles nicely. And again, there are also i386.rpms in that dir.

Either way, if you do not upgrade rpm beyond rpm-3.0.2-6.0, prereq's
versions are mishandled, so you may need to use --force or --nodeps to
install the binary rpms.
