Re: [cobalt-security] kernel: VM: do_try_to_free_pages failed for ... ?

I had this problem regularly a few weeks ago, I noticed that it often
happened when we were being spidered by 4 or more search engines at the same
time as swatch (active monitor) running.

The RAQ affected had about 220 virtual sites on it, mostly parked domains
with DNS records, holding pages and doorway pages, but no conventional
"heavy traffic" sites.

It seems that the RAQ was just overloaded and ran out of memory trying to
serve the various pages up and run all of the various other functions. I
think "do_try_to_free_pages" is just the RAQ trying to fix itself once it
has gone down.

We found that by removing about 5000 of the various pages that were being
spidered and transferring about 30 virtual sites off the machine it stopped
the machine crashing as you describe.

This won't be the cure all machines with this problem, but it may be a good
place to start looking if your machine holds lots of content.
