Simple: your SSH client is capable of using a public key algorithm which the
server is not, probably because you got the latest MacSSH version where your
SSH server is a little old.
And yes, it is secure. If you get a session, it's using SSH therefore must
be secure by definition. Your SSH daemon won't do anything else!
