Personal preference. :-) They're both nice programs and each has its pros
and cons. IMO, the areas where Squirrelmail excels over Neomail are
reliability, functionality, usability and ease of maintenance. Neomail
appears to have problems with date sorting and has reported errors to me.
To be fair, I haven't spent any amount of time investigating. Squirrelmail
allows the user web-based control of many preferences and options that
Neomail doesn't offer. There are also over 50 plugins available via the
Squirrelmail site which are easy to install and allow for some interesting
and useful functionality. The spell checker and opening messages in a new
window are my favorites. The design and layout of Squirrelmail give it the
usability edge over Neomail and when appropriate plugins are selected the
scale is tipped even further in its favor. Since Squirrelmail is written in
PHP it's much easier for me to make changes to the underlying code.

Squirrelmail isn't that difficult to install. It should be a breeze for
someone with your Cobalt admin experience.

Only you can answer that question. ;-)
