Re: [cobalt-security] self signed certificate warnings

Yeah, I got it. I've dealt with Thawte in the past though, and I trust
them.

I've actually dealt with that particular guy before as well, and he
provided very good support to me when I was setting up a cert on a Raq.

I would choose Thawte as my first choice for a normal CA. They provide
a product that I need for a fair price.

However, in this particular case, I don't feel that the pricing that
they are offering is fairly priced. Therefore I will have to find
another solution.

That's just the way it is. Sometimes I find the book I want at
Amazon.com, sometimes I have to walk down the street to BAMM.

P.S. I don't begrudge any commercial entity who watches the list for
opportunities to solve a problem for a fee. I know there's several very
talented individuals who would like to help, but can't afford to do it
for free.

Did you get the spam from the guy at Thawte who reads the list? I've
written him back and asked him to prove his product is better. He says
I can get Thawte certs for only a dollar more, but if I buy them for a
dollar more I couldn't sell them for the same, now could I <smile>.

He says that GeoTrust sells wildcard certs on a per-server basis, but
hasn't given me a price on a cert good for 250 subdomains on one RaQ4; I
bet it's going to be over $400 that you can get from GeoTrust.

Exactly. I've never ran into a client that cares who the cert is issued
by as long as it works.
