Having followed these instructions I get the errors

checking whether pam_strerror takes only one argument... no
checking for OpenSSL directory... configure: error: Could not find working
OpenSSL library, please install or check config.log

when ./configure

and also get

[root@raqxxx openssh-3.1p1]# make
make: *** No targets.  Stop.
[root@raqxxx openssh-3.1p1]#

on the make command.

any ideas guys/gals.
