Hi, I would like to know why are the cobalt kernels quite an old version while the latest version is 2.4.18. I reckon that it is one of the possible reasons for attacks.
I reckon you are wrong. Cobalt has released an update if you had bothered to look. Cobalt took RedHat 6.2 Linux and modified it to be the Cobalt Operating System. They have left some things out and modified others. It made a web appliance. If you don't want a web appliance buy another product and maintain it yourself at your own pace. If you own a Cobalt, make it a practice to check http://sunsolve.sun.com/patches/cobalt/ for udates, and do them. Just remember if you have decided to make your own modifications, you may need to remove them before adding updates.
