RE: [cobalt-security] Re: boot/mount a raq4 drive in non-cobalt hardware?

I would just mount it as a secondary drive on a Linux PC, that works fine.
The Raq4 firmware is smart and can mount the root EXT2 filesystem directly,
it loads a gzip compressed kernel from there. There is no LILO or other
standard boot loader involved and the kernel is not of the bzImage
compressed variety. Because there is no separate /boot partition there may
be kernel loading problems if the kernel doesn't by coincidence sit entirely
near the start of the disk. I just wouldn't try to go there, odds of
success are extremely limited. I would not say it is totally impossible if
one has a LOT time to waste with various loader scenarios using floppies and
possibly a kernel rebuild.
