This was discussed on cobalt-users last week, including a reply from
one of the Sun engineers. The problem in the latest kernel has been
found, and a fixed kernel is on its way to QA. This affects the Qube
Pro and the RaQ 4r. Not sure about XTR.
In the meantime, there's a "hack" to fix the problem. Execute this at
the commandline as root, and then add it to /etc/rc.d/rc.local (so
that it runs each time the server gets rebooted):
echo 5000 > /proc/sys/dev/md/speed-limit
