There is a file available called "stripheader". It takes the *.raq file and
transforms it back into a *.tar.gz file.
With that you can take your *.raq file apart to see if the file itself is
corrupted or not. If it is not corrupted, then you might be able to rescue
some or all data contained in the *.tar.gz file which stripheader generates
from your *.raq file.
This script is available from a couple of RaQ related download pages,
including the URL below:

Ideally one does not rely on the built in backup solutions - at all - as they
are all more or less crap. Most people use RaQbackup.sh which is available
here:
