Run down Eugene Crosser's list, found at <http://www.average.org/cobalt/quick-security-guide.html>. There is a pointer posted monthly (automatically).
Gerald and raqware.com will install a security package (see <http://store.raqware.com/product_info.php?products_id=50>) which covers a lot of Eugene's list and a few others. It requires some keeping up with. You can probably do three-quarters of it yourself if you want to and you feel confident enough to; the components are described on their site. You're paying for the installation service and the extra documentation, which may be worth it depending on your circumstances.
