Many thanks for the procedure. Just a note to say that some of the source
distributions have moved now:

wget http://archive.apache.org/dist/httpd/old/apache_1.3.20.tar.gz
wget http://www.modssl.org/source/OBSOLETE/mod_ssl-2.8.4-1.3.20.tar.gz
