Maybe you missed it somehow, but they *did* release all the source code...

It is available from project Blue Quartz, at http://www.bluequartz.org/

PS. Note that most of the new development is towards whitebox,
not continuing to support the old Cobalt server hardware...
(of course, you could convert your bluebox into whitebox)
