We also are getting similar errors with our qpopper on the Raq2.
Instead of gettin errors such as "can't get canonical name of client" the
qpopper locks up and quits letting people log in.  First gives error of pop
lock then after deleting the pop lock file it just kicks the user out of
their mailbox with an error of "connection closed by foreign host".

So far rebootin the machine is the only way to solve this mystery.
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, I'd be glad to hear them!
