[cobalt-security] Secure way to backup MIPS machines with SMB

Hello, has anyone found a secure way to securly
schedlue backups to a NT SMB share using the GUI? As
we understand, once a share is created it can be found
and browsed by the local subnet, unless something
like:

\\Machinename01\Backup000728$
It has been said that this will be "un-viewable
from Network Neighborhood, for instance, so your other
snoops in the office don't get to the share, since
they won't know its there."
Is this really secure by obscurity? Can we schedule
backups with an .htaccess file or to a password
protected file? Any other alternatively appreciated,
though we want to backup to a different drive.
Cheers,
