RE: [cobalt-security] Easy Question

Possible idea.........

one. leave telnet on by default so it will restart with the server then
login and kill it off. therefore the worst cause is you restart your box and
telnets back on. You have to watch incase you get a unexpected reboot (e.g.
No UPS :) and telnet restarts again.

While don't you set the /etc/host.allow to only allow you/your subnet to
access the webbrowser instead of swithcing it off completely. The GUI is
the best thing about the cobalts it shield linux wanbies from the #bin!sh
crap :) Otherwise you might as well have bought as second hand 233MX pc + a
downloaded copy linux 6.2 and used linuxconf!

John;
Duhhh...you already did ssh....disregard that part. I was not paying the
requisite degree of attention!

Another way in is via the serial port, but I have had NO luck with that
whatsoever. I couldn't get a terminal session running no matter what the
heck I tried...changing port speeds...nothing worked.
Sorry, I should have read you post with more care, I do apologize.

As an aside, if anyone has a definitive way to make the damn "cereal
port" access method actually work, I'd like to know. I fought with that
thing for weeks and couldn't get any results.
Regards,
-Colin
