I am in the exact situation.

No, we are comparing WatchGuard vs. VelociRaptor.

On my first assessment of the VR I found management cumbersome and
difficult. Since, however, I have much more time to delve into it and,
like anything else, it got better.

As far as security, I am NOT a fan of proxies, but this product seems to
be extremely secure, although somewhat susceptible to DoS attacks, as is
inherent in many proxy firewalls. Axent (now Symantec) claims they have
passed 45Mb/sec through the VR, which is all fine and good, but I still
wouldn't put in front of a heavy hit site or a large corporate LAN. On a
conference call they seemed to dodge all my questions about connections
per second and the like.

However, I have found the VPN implementation to be excellent. It is
robust, follows the standards, and secure. I am most pleased with
this. It seems to be interoperable with most other VPN implementations
as well.

Axent was recently acquired by Symantec. Right now documentation and
support are hard to come by, I suspect this will change however. I do
have a few PDFs if your interested. Also, I don't think Cobalt is really
supporting this at all, I may be wrong.

If I can be of any help let me know.
