Subject: RaQ3-End Of Life Updates

The following excerpt of a message from my contact at Sun should be
of interest to RaQ owners. Please see the additional comments at
the end of this message:

As far a RaQ3 and updates. After a product is brought to End of Life,
there will be one last major update that is done. This is scheduled
for the July/August timeframe for the RaQ3. There will continue to be
security updates to the product for 18 months from the time that Sun Cobalt
stopped selling the product. We don't plan on leaving customers hung out
to dry without any updates or support. If you have specific items
that you would like to see addressed in any of the products, I am the
right person to send them to. My group is responsible for doing these
updates.

One item of note. Sun Cobalt will normally not do any feature
enhancements
or system updates to a product after the last update, only security
updates. The exception on the RaQ3 is the backup/recovery feature.
There is currently a patch in testing to add working vendor backup for
Legato, Veritas, and Arkeia. A product team is working to fix the
Cobalt Native backup as well. We are aware of the issues surrounding the
backup feature and are working to fix it.

You mentioned that 'RaQ3/4 owners are "stuck" with the existing GUI
and it's many problems.' Please quantify the problems and I will try
and address if we plan to include fixes in the next scheduled update.

I can not tell you that they will be fixed as part of the last update.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

So, now's the chance to get your requests in. From the way I read the
email, the most important ones are things that are broken, and the
next priority would be things that are nice to have.

I'm willing to submit the items to Sun...but they should:

A. Be well documented
B. Indicate whether it's a fix or a nice to have
C. emailed to me

Please restrict the items to RaQ3 only(or those items that are common
to all RaQs

For those that submitted earlier...the text file I created was eaten in
one of those "hard drive events"...sorry.
