Because I'm still learning. :)

Thanks so much, I'll give this a try and see what turns up.

I was able to install it just fine, it was configuring the ruleset
that was getting me. My lack of knowledge made the IPChains-How-To
pages indecipherable. :)
I just installed PMFirewall though, thanks to Rev. wRy, and it seems
to be working quite well - trying to find a remote machine to give it
a good test, as I'm on a static IP and have given myself full access
so I can't do any testing from here.
Now that I have a ruleset for my machine, I'll really be able to learn
this a LOT better, and hopefully explain it in newbie terms for others
like me. None of the instructions that I could find out there ever had
something like "configure lines x-z for *your* particular IP address"
etc. etc.; they all had the generic stuff as if everyone would
automatically know what to change and what not to change. That's what
kept getting me.
I love rpmfind too! Especially since it works so well with Lynx. ;)
