the DNS GUI, uses /etc/named/records to re-construct the zone files
When you edit manually, your additions/changes are not in /etc/named/records
You can use the GUI for everything else,
Just never go into DNS|parameters and click-on the save button
I do all my DNS manually, I do not use /etc/named/records, so
Your use may vary....
