If you're doing it as a DSO, I don't think you'll have any problems. Just
use the regular '--with-mysql' config line.

The guys at pkgmaster do those packages on their own time and don't get paid
for it, so you might be better off rolling your own.

No. IIRC, /var is the default install for MySQL. The /var partition is not
very big, so it would be better to install it on /home where there's plenty
of space.

You can use RPM's on cobalt, some just prefer the source installs in cases
like mysql that I mentioned above.
