It puts less stress on the server. 

Usually when someone connects to Qpopper the PAM mechanism is fired up to 
check if the username and password are valid. This takes 2-3 seconds extra 
time, too.

Now when you're looking at "top" at that time you'll see that each in.qpopper 
process creates a small CPU usage spike - generating between 85% and 95% of 
CPU usage. With many people POP'ing at the same time this can be a problem.

With the new package you don't see this extra load, so your box could handle 
more concurrent POP3 connections.

Whatever works best for you. If you're running the stock Qpopper which came 
with the RaQ, then you don't have to upgrade. But if you ever want to, then 
you've got the choice and the possibility.
