Yes, you should have your own IP address(es) and domain names in it. But
usually nothing more than that.

If I knew Tom's server relayed mail for tom.com, and i knew his smtp server was tomsqube.com, couldn't i set up my email program to send mail through his server (but obviously not recieve it)? I'm assuming the domain name entered is not tied to the IP address(es) entered (or else dial up users would not be able to relay mail through their server). Sorry, but i'm a newbie too and I'm learning more every day :)
